Motorized Potentiometers
Motorized Potentiometers are built with a highly reliable linear potentiometer, with a slip clutch, geartrain and motor in a single panel mount assembly which can be manually adjusted. For decades, mechanical or analog potentiometers have been utilized in industrial facilities to provide a signal to machinery. Our motorized potentiometers (MOP) are designed to last 10 – 20 years. Motorpots are used in Oil Rigs, Asphalt plants, Printing Presses, Aircraft, Helicopters, Simulators, Medical, Power Plants, Robotics, Ships etc.
Motorized Potentiometers are used in a variety of industrial automation and process control applications such as speed controls, flow meters, tensioning motors, etc., by allowing automatic remote control in addition to use of a manual control knob. A geared servo motor, slip clutch and single or multi-turn potentiometer form the motor pot. The different gear boxes in the motorized potentiometer enabling run-up and run-down time settings varying from 10 to 300 seconds. All our motorized potentiometers are made from the highest quality components as our potentiometers are made in Japan, DC motors and geartrains are SWISS made, and our AC motors are heavy duty Hurst, USA made motors.
The main characteristics of our motorized potentiometers are smooth performance, high linearity and resolution, reliable terminations and durability. Series MC (DC) and MAC (AC) models are available with single turn or ten turn, wirewound or conductive plastic, and single or multiple gang potentiometer. The slip clutch protects the potentiometers end stops, and allows for manual adjustment. Motor controlled potentiometers give wide latitude in speed control.
Replacement units for old ETI Systems motorized potentiometers available. Call with your ETI part number and OLC will give you a quotation on building a new one. We can also repair old ETI motorpots built in the 1980 and 1990’s.
Potentiometer Considerations:
- Resistance value (ohmage). 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 ohms, 1K, 2K, 5K, 10K, 200K 50K, 100K depending on model.**
- Wattage (.5, 1, 2, or 5 watt)
- Type – conductive plastic, hybrid or wirewound
- Single turn or 10-turn.
- Single, dual or triple gang for feedback purposes
Motor Considerations:
- Operating voltage – DC or AC volts
6 VDC, 12 VDC or 24 VDC –DC motorized potentiometers – High-quality precision motors which are renowned for their compact size, precision, efficiency and performance with a precision gearhead.
115 VAC or limited 24 VAC –AC motorized potentiometers – Highest quality motors. - RPM’s (turns per minute) desired. (+/- 20%)
Rheostat - Motorized:
Rheostats have high wattages of 25 Watt, 50 Watt or 100 Watt. Motorized with either an heavy duty AC motor or DC motor.
All motorized potentiometers/rheostats are built to order. Delivery will depend on if parts are in stock to meet all your requirements. Delivery can take up 10 – 14 weeks for low volume models. Motorized Potentiometers built by On Line Controls, Inc. can be returned for repair or rebuilding. Our service department will also try and repair older (OEM) ETI motorized potentiometers (MC, MAC, ME series) built in the 80’s and 90’s.
